Best Entry-Level EMTB: Velotric Summit 1

Velotric sent me their new EMTB mode the Summit 1. It comes in blue, black or orange. It sells for $1999 and is both UL Listed and water resistant as they get, at this price.

I took the Summit 1 up to the proving grounds of Gurney Lane Recreation area in upstate New York, a park for mountain bikers with a variety of trails for ebikes just like this.It held its own against more expensive ebikes like Trek and the Specialized Levo. You can watch some of that ride below. I befriended a couple of locals who I tailed through the woods.

Performance/Power: 750 watt peaks at 1300 W, 48V 14.7AH battery, top speed of 30 MPH. COmes with 3 amp charger.

Tires & Brakes: Kenda 27.5 X 2.6 inch gravel tires, 180mm rotors, Shimano hydraulic brakes, thru-axle, 120mm front travel suspension.

Sizing:Weighs 62 lbs, payload 440 lbs, Regular or Large frame sizes.

Gearing: Torque sensor, 44T chainring, Shimano 8 speed draillire, thum throttle, 3 modes Eco, Trail, Boost.

I found the Summit great at handling some rough terrain up at Gurney Lane but I also took it for a 25 mile rail trail ride as well and it got me there and back with style. I think the seat is comfortable (which is rare) and the speed on the open trail is unmatched in this ebike class.

It has 3 modes you can ride in: Eco, Trail and Boost. I kept it in boost all weekend and found the range to be respectable. The torque sensor offers a natural riding experience and as soon as you step hard into that pedal you get what you want from the power plant.

Braking is excellent and the Apple Find My is an excellent feature in case you lose it or it gets stolen.
