Radster Trail Ebike Review: Rugged & Well Refined

The Radster Trail is the first ebike I have reviewed from Rad Power Bikes. It is the newest model from the company that has been around for many years and went through a bit of a slump recently but now is starting to right itself with new products.

The Trail comes in a road ebike version aptly called the Radster Road. Both versions are $2,199. It comes in Copper Red or Fir Green.

The Trail Comes in 2 sizes Regular or Large (2 inch difference), the Regular should fit riders 4’11 to 5”8 Large 5’7 to 6’4. Standover height 21 or 24 inches. It has a payload capacity of 370 lbs while the rear rack can holds 55 lbs. The ebike weighs 78lbs.

What I Think

The Radster is a very well done ebike. I had to replace the seatpost with a suspension one because the stock one was not comfortable going over bumps but the motor/battery combo are top notch. The 15AH battery is UL listed and now comes with their signature “Safe Shield” technology that gives ebike riders piece of mind when it comes to having safe electronics after hearing about ebike fires. The battery contains a thermal resin to prevent heat transfer between the cells.

Riding the Trail is a great experience. It has good pickup off the line and I’m really impressed with the clear, crips display. It is one of the easiest to read displays in the market. At just over $2k it falls on the premium side but at that price you get your moneys worth.

It comes as a Class II but can easily be unlocked to Class III status in the settings. Top speed is 28MPH.

I received the Large version since I am six feet tall. It fits me well. It is a tall ebike though and I do feel high off the ground.
