It took me a while to process what the new Lectric ONE ebike represents when I first saw it in Phoenix earlier this year. It has technology never seen before on an affordable ebike.
But now that I have been riding it for the past month I can say for sure it definently feels like the future of ebike design. There is no chain, there is no deraillure and shifting happens electronically.
That combination makes me want the same on every ebike I ride.
The look of the ONE leaves a little to be desired as I think they could have made it look cooler but other than that, and lack of front suspension, it is perhaps the perfect ebike.
Right now Lectric is selling it for $2,299 which includes a second 14AH battery for free. Range comes in at around 60 miles on the lowest PAS setting (flat ground).
The Lectric ONE is aimed at the serious commuter and this ebike is perfect for taking on a train for example. It is lightweight coming in at just 55 lbs and its compact frame make it agile and easy to maneuver around city streets and parked cars.
Pinion Gearbox + Belt Drive
The main draw of the ONE is the Pinion C1.6i gearbox. A pre-select feature automatically sets the riders gears, allowing for effortless auto-shifts while coasting, upshifting downhill and downshifting uphill. It comes with an app where you can calibrate the gears, change the cadence and choose your starting gear.
Lectric gets a lot of credit for bringing this technology to an affordable e-bike. You can’t get an ebike with it unless you want to buy a $10K + Stromer. Once you ride something with a Pinion Gearbox you won’t want to ride anything else.
I would LOVE to see a fat tire version of this ebike with a bigger battery. I’d gladly pay for that kind of ride!
Motor & Battery
The ONE comes with Lectric’s M24 750 Watt rear hub motor with stealth tech that is quieter. At a peak wattage of 1310 the ONE offer the best POWER to WEIGHT ration of any ebike on the market. Once unlocked to Class III speeds it spins up very quickly to 28MPH. It is powered by a UL certified 48V 14AH battery that slides behind the seatpost.
